Madonna has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and is recognized as the world's top-selling female recording artist of all time by the Guinness World Records. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she is the best-selling female rock artist of the 20th century and the second top-selling female artist in the United States, behind Barbra Streisand, with 64 million certified albums. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked Madonna at number two, behind only The Beatles, on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists, making her the most successful solo artist in the history of the chart. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the same year. Considered to be one of the most influential figures in contemporary music, Madonna is known for continuously reinventing both her music and image, and for retaining a standard of autonomy within the recording industry. She is recognized as an inspiration among numerous music artists. Madonna's other ventures include being a fashion designer, children's book author, film director and producer, and owner of her own recording company Maverick corporation, as a joint venture with Time Warner. She has been acclaimed as a businesswoman, and in 2007, she signed an unprecedented US $120 million contract with Live Nation.
The 50-year-old had appealed after a lower court rejected her original application to adopt Chifundo "Mercy" James, four, over residency issues. This shows that she is ethnically diverse and shows that she is not racist

She has been said to be the most respected businesswoman and female musician of the 20th century. In the top 100 musicians of  all time only second to the beatles.

this information has helped me to realize many things about madonna. Firstly that she is absolutely adored by her fans worldwide, this is summed up by the fact that in her relatively short time of being a pop star she has sold over three hundred million records world wide and despite being fifty now her most attended and highest grossing tour was actually her most recent tour, this was called the sticky and sweet tour, which shows that her fans didn't just love her because of her age but mainly because of her amazing voice. secondly that she is possibly the most well known musician of all time and in the list of all time great musicians, she finished in second and was only denied the title by the BEETLES. if you visit almost any country in the world, almost all of there population will know the name madonna. Even tiny babies know of her name. another thing that makes her so popular is her ethnicity. the reason why this makes her so popular is that people of all cultures feel welcome and comfortable. a sign of her ethnicity was the adoption of the African born baby Mercy James who inevitably was from a completely different and less fortunate culture. Finally the last thing that makes her so popular is her sexuality, the reason why this was so effective was that she was not afraid to do things that other artists may fear that it would scar and ruin their reputation.

Afrika Bambaataa, born Kevin Donovan on April 10, 1960 in the South Bronx of New York City, New York, revolutionized music forever. His tremendous impact, influence, popularity, and recognition have earned him the respect and fame to be amongst the giants of the music industry

Most notably, in a career of over 30 years, Bambaata revolutionized Hip Hop more than any other person and greatly influenced the electronic/dance worlds and helped substantiate a culture that still affects us today.

During his early years, Bam took a musical interest in its many forms, playing the trumpet and the piano at his high school before he became warlord of one of the most feared gangs of New York-the Black Spades. However, by 1976, he began to be influenced by the

DJ styles of Kool DJ Dee and Kool DJ Herc and expanded his music interests through records of various genres, from rock to R&B, from mainstream to underground.

he has been linked with the name of the best rapper of all time, and even the wizard for his magical music.

this information has helped me to realize that Afrika Bambaataa is a very proclaimed and talented musician in which he has sold tonnes of amazing albums of which they are very popular.
the reason why Bambaataa was so famous and well known was because he switched his life around and even when times were tough for him while he was in a gang, he still felt that there was hope for others who were in the same situation as him. He did this by getting all of the people from the gangs in Bronx who were known as the black spades, but from this, he created the Bronx river organization who were specialized in performing arts. He then saw the film Zulu which showed the british army fighting the zulu people, and he was sad with what he saw, from this film he named himself Afrika Bambaataa (affectionate leader), and then changed the Bronx river organisation into the zulu nation, where they adopted rapping and writing with graffiti and that was how Afrika Bambaataa. This shows that not only did Bambaataa create brilliant music but his soul aims were to mend the community that he grew up in and lived in and he just wanted peace and a resolvence of the fighting.

Switching his life around after seeing what violence was doing to his community, Bam transformed most of The Black Spades into The Bronx River Organization, a performing group. Sometime during the existence of this group, he saw the film Zulu which depicted the battle between British troops and the Zulu tribe, one of the most powerful and sophisticated states in Africa. Deeply inspired, he changed The Bronx River Organization into the Zulu Nation and named himself Afrika Bambaataa (meaning "affectionate leader") Aasim in honor of the 19th century Zulu chief. He then adopted the Zulu Nations' principles of unity and peace and mixed it with the Hip Hop lifestyle. Gangmembers became b-boys, rappers, and graffiti/aerosol writers, and violence was averted through knowledge, unity, and peace. Soon, Bam and his Zulu Nation reached out to their community in a positive light and began to help the youth through various
